Clark County families gather for Easter meals

DUBOIS—The Dubois Lions annual Kid’s Easter Egg Hunt was again a big hit for the many youngsters participating from pre-school through the sixth grade Saturday morning. Special colored eggs earned the lucky hunters money awards as well as a number of Easter Baskets.

Clark County Deputy Sheriff John Clements was presented his Advanced POST Certificate Monday by Clark County Sheriff Bart May during the past Monday’s Clark County Commissioners meeting in Dubois. May congratulated Clements and said Clements recently completed his requirements for his upgrade which included completing 500 POST Training hours, including POST Basic Patrol Academy, as well as having earned 15 college credits for the Advanced Certificate, with 13 years law enforcement experience.

The higher elevations in Clark County, like Spencer and upper Medicine Lodge, reported spring has not exactly sprung in their areas, which received 2 and 3 inches of snow this past Friday.

Camas Creek is not wasting time now catching up with Beaver Creek in reaching the Refuge area at Camas and with snow still in those mountains that water supply is looking good.

The Clark County High School volleyball fundraiser has been scheduled for April 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Clark County High School. For signup contact a member of the Volleyball team or Coach Lisa Shenton at 208-313-5385. Concessions will be available.

There will be an early school release April 20. Parent and teachers conferences will be that afternoon at the respective schools from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Clark County High School annual junior prom is April 22 commencing at 8 p.m.

The City of Dubois is conducting a community solar eclipse meeting tonight, at the Clark County Courthouse at 7 p.m. Mayor Eddins urges community organizations and other interested persons wishing to help plan the solar eclipse weekend events to bring their ideas to the table.

The members of the Community Baptist Church had an early Sunday morning breakfast Easter Sunday, with Church Services at 10 a.m.

Sunday afternoon Cowboy Church was held at the Dubois Community Baptist Church with a large crowd in attendance. They all enjoyed a potluck meal, which was followed by the services, headed by Pastor Scotty Brown.

Sunday Sacrament speakers at the Beaver Creek LDS Ward Church included youth speaker, Shilo Egan, followed by adult speakers Jan Williams and High Councilman Lance Moss, both of Hamer.

Marty and Connie Owen, of Dubois, were in Boise this week where they attended the Weather Modification Association meetings.

The family of Sandy McClure gathered at Spencer where they enjoyed an early Easter dinner on Saturday prior to Easter. Family members attending were Rick and Karen King of Sheridan, Mont., and their daughter and family, Troy and Jennifer Taylor and son, Breck, of Idaho Falls.

Frank and Marie Young hosted a Easter brunch for their children, spouses and families which included: Matt and Julie Young and daughter, Maggie of Idaho Falls; Paul and Kimberly Young and sons, Brian and Andrew and a friend, Chelsey, of Shelley, and Jeff and Laurel Young and son, Sawyer of Idaho Falls.

The family of Allyn and Jan May gathered at home for a family Sunday dinner. Prior to dinner they all attended church at the Beaver Creek Ward.

Bonnie Stoddard, of Dubois, underwent eye surgery in Idaho Falls on Monday. She spent the night in Roberts with her daughter and husband, Wade and Vicki Beckman.
