Dorothy DeLayne Galbraith
Dorothy DeLayne Galbraith, 86, of Rigby, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 08, 2017.
Dorothy was born December 21, 1930 in Rigby, Idaho a daughter of Ernest Arthur Bates and Mary Louise Musgrave Bates. She was raised in Rigby and attended Rigby High School. Dorothy married Clinton George Galbraith on January 23, 1948 in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on November 23, 1965. Clinton preceded her in death on October 30, 2015. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served as the chorister in the primary and Relief Society, primary teacher and loved to sing. Dorothy had a special talent, she could yodel, which she learned when she was a young child.
Dorothy worked for Fresh Pak in Lewisville, was a dietician at the Madison Memorial Hospital, made pie’s and noodles for Jake & Minnie’s in Rexburg, during the winter months she would work at Idaho Potato Growers in Thornton. She also worked at Pacific Pride in Ririe and Idaho Pacific. Clinton and Dorothy had a horse concession business at Harriman State Park.
Dorothy loved to collect ornamental shoes and what a collection she had. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crocheting, riding horses, and she had a great sense of humor.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, DeLayne (Dennis) Keith of Yuma, Arizona, DaNita Griffin of Rigby, Shawna (Mark) Hirschi of Salem, Susan (Randy Foy) Rasmussen of Clinton, Utah, sons, Clint (Janeene) Galbraith of Lyman, Alan (Shari) Galbraith of B.C., Canada, Bryce (Laurie) Galbraith of Rigby, sisters, LeOra Richards of Denver, Colorado, Katherine DaBell of Boise, Ann Bates and Karen Bates of Idaho Falls, 39 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, George Mitchell Galbraith, sisters, Theola Haight, Ina Youngstrom, Erna Thornock, brothers, Ernest Douglas Bates and DLynn Bates.
Funeral services were held Monday March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. The family visited with friends Sunday March 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment was in the Sutton Cemetery.
